Capturing the Magic

What We Do…

How we Capture the Moments

 The Creative Process…

Our goal is to create images, words and jewelry that help you find hope and light during life’s difficult journeys. The pairing of our images and words is meant to help you find strength, hope and healing and gain a measure of peace as time moves you forward in your life.

In our lives,  whether we are aware of it or not, I believe we often encounter natural energy that moves us to places we are meant to be and our lives are changed by that energy so that we end up in the place the universe prepares for us.

In the same way, once we launch into making one of our pieces, the design is altered by the energy of the moment and enhanced by the energy passing across the veil on the spirit wind. This is especially clear in the gift of words I receive to match the images as I work on them. It is also clear in the jewelry making process where small differences in the heat of the flame, the way the torch moves over the jewelry and my focus on the process all add their own elements to the creation that makes it a product of the the energy acting at that place and time.

When its just right, you can feel it all come together and know you have been a pathway for the spiritual energy to flow through you into the art,  you are part of the creating by bringing that energy into the world.

We hope that you find the energy of our work comforting and in tune with your spirit as you view it or wear it. We believe you are brought to choose the piece you do by an affinity for that moment it captures and that it will continue to resonate with your nature each time you see it or when you wear it or pass it on to someone for whom it brings comfort as well.

The Products…

PHOTO-GRAPHICS:

The images in our photo collection were taken with a Cannon T2i digital SLR camera. Editing and graphics were done in Adobe photoshop. Each image is digitally signed prior to printing. The images are printed using an Epson R2000 pigment ink printer on Red River 68 lb. UltraPro Satin paper that has an acid free base stock and slightly acidic coating. Please read the explanation from the paper company reproduced below.

Photobase Coating Acidity

Photobase resin coated (RC) inkjet papers always have a slightly acidic coating. The acid content (pH 6.8) makes instant ink drying possible. The level of acid content is not high enough to affect print stability over time.

The base stock of all Red River inkjet papers are acid free.

As of now, all prints will be 8×10 and matted in an 11×14 mat and placed in a solid wood black frame.

All of our prints will come to you matted in a black core mat with an acid free surface and a companion buffered, acid-free backer board. The prints will be in a glass-front wood frame enclosed in bubble wrap for protection and shipped in a two-ply cardboard box.

ON COLOR VARIATIONS:

We use an iMac and and a MacBookPro for our digital darkroom and match the print colors and brightness to the screen image. We make every effort to have the colors and brightness of our prints be true to the screen image and our vision. Unfortunately, because all monitors are different, the colors you see on your monitor may vary slightly from what you see on the print you receive, but what you receive is always our intended result.

JEWELRY:

The earrings in our collection are all made of sterling silver wire, hand crafted into shape and the hoops soldered together. We have left some of the hoops in their natural, irregular shapes as they come out of the forging process and some have been hammered to be more circular if that is your choice of design. We have added beads of various composition on some of them to add a splash of color and movement to the earrings while you are wearing them.

Our other styles of jewelry are stampings on sheet silver and copper as well as silver, copper and turquoise pendants.

The stamped jewelry is made using a fusing process to join layers of Sterling Silver sheet and wire by partially melting them together.

The fusing process produces one of a kind, organic textures on the surface of the fused silver. The stamping is hand done on the uppermost level of the fused silver layers. In the fusing process, repeated partial melting causes the Sterling Silver to go through different phases; the surfaces become molten, the silver begins to bubble as it releases gases and pure silver is released from its alloying copper to produce a layer of fine silver with a granular texture on the surface of the jewelry. In the finishing process, I have retained many of the molten, flow and recrystallization textures.

Fused and hand-forged shapes are also used as the background surfaces on which raw turquoise nuggets that are hand-shaped and polished are placed.

A bright, soft polish has been applied to the highlights of the jewelry. The low areas on the fused pieces retain some of the granular texture derived from the fusing process and the low areas have been partially oxidized a gray-black color for visual contrast. Where possible, each piece is hand signed and dated.

All of the pendants hang from a 1mm brown leather cord. The cord is knotted at the top but you can easily untie and retie it if you need to change the length of the pendant.

Jewelry will be packaged in cotton lined boxes and placed in padded mailing envelopes for shipping.

Each piece of jewelry is an original, hand-made item and therefore unique and retains many of the elements of the forging and fusing processes used in its creation.
